Seitan A L’Orange
Posted: June 9, 2012 Filed under: Dinner, Sauces 2 Comments »Oh, this turned out so good! I roasted some potatoes, garlic, and fresh rosemary from the Farmers market. I seriously made a feast this evening!
To make the Seitan, I used the recipe from Veganomicon, but made a few modifications: I reduced the soy sauce to 1 tablespoon, and replaced the remaining liquid amount with additional vegetable stock. I also added 1 teaspoon of Herbes de Provence.
Sauce A L’Orange:
In a saucepan:
Sautee one minced shallot in 1 tablespoon of vegan margarine. Once the shallots have browned, add 1 cup of dry white wine to deglaze the pan. Add 1 cup of vegetable stock, the juice of two oranges, and one tablespoon of agave nectar. Add the zest of one orange and ½ teaspoon of dried thyme. Allow the mixture to come to a boil. Once it comes to a boil, add 1 teaspoon of cornstarch to thicken and salt and pepper. Reduce to a low flame and add the Seitan.
I served this dish up with roasted potatoes and salad from the Hastings Farmers Market today.

This really looks a like BIG feast!!!
It was a great meal to round out a very long work week!
